Artist Statement

My practice has a sense of an autobiographical nature and building on narrative as opposed to abstract. Looking closely at how motherhood is dictating my life, I have begun to document and record the everyday events and personal experiences of my being as a mother and the relationship I am forming with my son. My work explores domestic objects (home) that become subverted by industrial materials (iron) and the process of casting concerned with destruction and repetition of actions. I work experimentally between drawing, print, sculpture and performance. My practice also shifts towards confronting my identity as a woman of dual ethnicity (Welsh and Lebanese) and my journey to reconnect with cultural references from which I have been displaced.
